Patrol Division

The Alice Police Department takes great pride in the Patrol Division. It is filled with highly trained officers who strive to provide an exceptional level of service to the citizens of Alice as well as its visitors. The backbone of the department, the patrol officers of the Alice Police Department exhibit professionalism and a high level of expertise in the work they perform daily. The Patrol Division is the most visible and recognizable unit of the police department, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Patrol officers are first responders who provide proactive police patrols, enforce federal, state, and local laws, traffic laws, and report offenses. In short, Patrol performs initial investigations into offenses and prevents and deters crimes through their presence.=

The officers of the Alice Police Department are one of the finest groups of officers in the State. With a strong dedication to protecting the community, they continually enhance their skills and their knowledge in order to better serve the citizens of Alice.

The division is made up of a Patrol Supervisor, three Sergeants, two Corporals and nineteen Patrol officers.

Alice Police Department Patrol Division is currently comprised of four shifts. The patrol shifts work in 12-hour rotations with both day and night shift coverage.

The Patrol Division performs numerous functions. A patrol officer conducts traffic enforcement, investigates traffic accidents, and is the initial responder to all reported crime. The patrol officer conducts the initial investigation of a crime and then prepares a detailed report that is then transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division. Patrol officers receive training in DWI enforcement, evidence collection, search and seizure and arrest procedures.

When not responding to calls for service, patrol officers actively patrol assigned sectors.
