Responsibilities

The Animal Control Division is responsible for:

  • enforcing all City of Alice ordinances pertaining to the regulation and possession of all domesticated animals within the City of Alice
  • remove all injured animals and carcasses from City of Alice streets and roadways.

Staff

Animal Control is staffed by two full-time Animal Control Officers.

These officers:
  • pick up stray animals
  • often work with detaining vicious animals
  • bathe shelter animals weekly
  • deflea and deworm animals at shelter
  • feed and care for animals

Adoption Information

  • Adoption fee for ownership is $25.
  • For puppies and kittens it is $5
  • New owner is responsible for all immunizations.
  • New Owner MUST HAVE PET SPAYED OR NEUTERED WITHIN 45 DAYS OF ADOPTION.
  • Special discounts on spay/neuter are available from different organizations. Contact us for more information.
  • To view available pets, please come by the office at 1150 Commerce Rd. 10am-12pm or 1pm-4pm, or contact the Animal Control Office at 361-664-0186.

Fees


  • Impoundment Fee: $75 and $5 for every day thereafter
  • Adoption Fee: $25 Adults, $5 Puppies and Kittens
  • Euthanasia Fee: $20
  • Drop-Off Fee: $10
  • City Tags: $3 if spayed or neutered; $10 if not spayed or neutered
