The Police Department is committed to building strong partnerships with our community through a variety of outreach programs, educational initiatives, and family-friendly events held throughout the year. These events provide opportunities for residents to meet officers, learn about public safety, and strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the community we proudly serve.
Each year, the department actively participates in National Night Out, the Downtown Halloween Event, and other city-sponsored Trunk or Treat events, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for families while promoting crime prevention and neighborhood engagement.
The department also hosts and participates in several community engagement programs, including Shop with a Cop, Coffee with a Cop, Taco with a Cop, Chick-fil-A with a Cop, and Ice Cream with a Cop. These events encourage positive, informal interactions between officers and community members, allowing residents to ask questions, share concerns, and get to know the men and women who serve their community.
As part of our commitment to public education, officers provide Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training for local schools and organizations, equipping participants with practical knowledge and strategies to respond during active threat situations. The department also presents Interacting with Police to high school seniors, helping students understand what to expect during encounters with law enforcement, their rights and responsibilities, and the importance of respectful, effective communication.
Through these and many other community events, the Police Department strives to foster trust, transparency, and collaboration while working together to create a safer, stronger, and more connected community.
